As we know,when we talk about the functions of HRM,we often refer to such as the recruiting,training,C&B,etc.but in fact , the functions include variety activities that influence all areas of an organization:


1,human resource planning,recruiting and selecting
2,employee developing(training)
3,compensation and benefits
4,employee and labor relations
5,safty and healthy
6,human resource research    etc~~~~~~~~~~~

i think Job Analysis also belongs the functions of HRM.

Job Analysis is a process to identify and determine in detail the particular job duties and requirements and the relative importance of these duties for a given job. Job Analysis is a process where judgements are made about data collected on a job.

The purpose of Job Analysis is to establish and document the 'job relatedness' of employment procedures such as training, selection, compensation, and performance appraisal.

certainly ,job analyze is the foundation work of all HRM activities,as we know,the result of job analyze are :job description and job specification,from the two document we can decide:
1,how many position we(or a specific organization) have?
2,what tasks or duties does a specific position must perform?
3,what types persons we need to recruit to fulfill the organization objective?such as the compency model,etc
4,and what kinds of training courses they need and how to conduct?
……etc


in a word ,the functions of HRM compass all the activities that supply for or coordinate the human resource (work force) to meet the organization objectives~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ what's your view?pls

my point of view:
Performance Management (PM) we should take it as a system,while the performance appraisa(PA) just be included in PM,PA is a middle conducted process.PM is a continuous process~~~~~~

a little suggestion:
From above words,I got it that both 看云卷云舒  and 有你相伴 are experieced in HR related work. But the purpose why you come here to share your opinoins is to improve your English level, both written skill and the basic programma knowledge.Right? If we only write down our opinions and then follow other memeber's content to discuss, while no any error corrections to what we wrote, I think that would be much slower for our English improvement.
As for Mr.Chenmingbing ,I think you are such a kind,responsible and gererous guy.Tons of thanks for all what you done to us. But you cannot always only act as a nice man. I think maybe
you can help to point out the programma mistakes and spelling mistakes from what we wrote and tell us directly.That will be much more appreciated.

Well,it is a good topic that I think about it these days. I don't too agree with the method to divide the functions of HR like "recruiting,training,C&B and etc."

1. The reasons why the Human Resources Management has usually been divided  into serveral funtions(or areas) is because the elimentary growing period in China. It will do good for the learner to study it such as the test of National Occupational Certification. Secondly, many practitioners do job related with HR working but not dedicated in it to be an expert. It is popular recently.

2. In Wal-Mart company, the strategy of the HR management is generalized 3 words: Get,Keep and Grow. How classic it is!  So I think that it is just a common appellation we all recognize in the processing to master the managing skills in human resources. What is the most important is that we should be flexible  to put what we have learned into practice. According to the different industry, different growing period of the co. there would be different states in the HR functions.

3. In Xiamen city, there is a industry we call it "foreign trade".There are usually about 15 employees in the co.  Let us work out how many funtions are needed in the HR management.  I think the basical employee relationship such as staffing is one of the most important funtions. And in such co. it is very difficult to do employee development. So, associate activities are more vital. But what about a manufaturing company with more than 500 empoyees? In addition, different importancy and necessity of the funtions in HR management is corresponding to different growing period of one company. Recruiting will be most important if a company was builded up just now. In a process that one company will be transfered to another industry the company culture will be regarded as one of the most important sucessfully factors. The case such as Nokia.

Okay, it is my viewpoint about the topic. Welcome to point out my mistake of english expression. And pleased to share with you in areas of human resources management.

yes
no two human resource dapt.have the same roles because of the differences in organization size and characteristics of the workforce,the industry ,and management's value ,and diffenrent development period of organization~~~~~~~~~~~~
in some company,the HRD handles the activities such as the recruiting and selectiong,but some company may share  the roles with other department,sometimes ,the hrd just only advise the top management.

according to abovel, it is evident that there are 10 parts of HRM.it seems very perfect and involeved in very aspect of HRM.Mr ren4, can you offer the detaisls related to 10 parts because i want to study and know how to perform these parts. if you have , pls share them with us.
